The Rajasthan government is planning to develop 23 old airstrips in the state with public-private partnership, where chartered and small flights can land. State Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh said this on Sunday. Addressing the G-20 Tourism Expo in Jaipur, he called upon all the participants to go back as ambassadors of Rajasthan tourism.
“Under the guidance and leadership of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, we are planning to develop 23 old airstrips in the state with public-private partnership, where chartered flight linkage can be provided directly,” he said. It is known that Singh also has the portfolio of civil aviation in the state cabinet.
People are taking flight from Kishangarh airport
Citing the example of Kishangarh airport, Vishvendra Singh said that after the commencement of flights at this airport, a lot of crowd has been diverted from the main airport and people going to Ajmer for Ziyarat are going through Kishangarh airport.
Investment will come from the private sector
When asked about the status of this scheme, he said that it would be completed soon. Speaking to news agency PTI, he said, “We are planning to give these airstrips on PPP mode, so the investment will come from the private sector.” When asked about the identity of these 23 airstrips, he said that all of them exist and all of them were built during the colonial period or by the former rulers.
Addressing the G20 Tourism Expo, he said that tourism does not belong to any party. He urged the Center that funds should be given to the state expeditiously in this matter.
