Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana: Various schemes are being implemented by the central and state governments to empower women and strengthen their presence in society. One such initiative is the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), which aims to provide financial assistance to pregnant women.
The Rajasthan government has given a significant benefit to women under this special scheme. Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Women and Child Development, Diya Kumari, announced that disabled pregnant women will receive a financial grant of ₹10,000 upon the birth of their first child under PMMVY. The Rajasthan government claims that this is a strong step towards empowering women.
Rajasthan Government’s Major Announcement
The Rajasthan government has made an important announcement for disabled pregnant women. Diya Kumari declared that starting from September 1, the financial assistance for disabled pregnant women will be increased from ₹6,500 to ₹10,000 under PMMVY. Earlier, this amount was ₹6,500, but an additional ₹3,500 has been added. The state government believes that this financial help will enable women to buy nutritious food during pregnancy and after childbirth.
Money to Be Given in Three Installments
The ₹10,000 financial assistance for disabled pregnant women under PMMVY in Rajasthan will be distributed in three installments. The first installment of ₹4,000 will be provided after registration at an Anganwadi center. After the birth of the child, ₹3,000 will be transferred to the mother’s bank account. The third installment of ₹3,000 will be given after the child is registered and receives all vaccinations up to 14 weeks of age.
Purpose of PMMVY
Through PMMVY, the government provides financial assistance to pregnant women to help them stay healthy during pregnancy. In many parts of the country, women cannot afford nutritious food due to financial difficulties, which affects the health of the unborn child. The scheme ensures that women can afford a healthy diet and give birth to a healthy baby.
