Rajasthan has 90% health insurance coverage

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday said that 90 per cent of the population in Rajasthan is covered under the health insurance scheme as against the national average of 41 per cent and the credit for this success goes to schemes like Chiranjeevi Bima Yojana.

Flagging off 167 new ambulances under 108 emergency service in Jaipur, he said that the state government has taken several medical steps like free kidney and knee transplant facility in its hospitals and this has come as a relief to the people.

Gehlot said health insurance coverage is 41 per cent at the national level, while it is 90 per cent in Rajasthan, 15.9 per cent in Uttar Pradesh, 22.4 per cent in Maharashtra and 44 per cent in Gujarat.

He told reporters, “Rajasthan is the leading state in the country in terms of health services. The schemes that we have implemented here are being discussed across the country. I hope the Center and other states will also implement such schemes.”
