Rajasthan News: Ahead of Diwali, the government employees of Rajasthan have received a welcome announcement with a four percent increase in dearness allowance. This decision comes as a relief to over eight lakh employees and more than four lakh pensioners in the state.
The proposal for a four percent increase in dearness allowance sent by the Rajasthan state government has received approval from the Election Commission. The new dearness allowance now stands at 46 percent, up from the previous 42 percent.
A Diwali Gift from Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his happiness over the approval and referred to it as a Diwali gift to government employees. The decision to increase the dearness allowance was made in the interest of Rajasthan’s government employees and pensioners.
Notably, Rajasthan is gearing up for assembly elections scheduled for November 25, leading to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct in the state. While the central government had recently raised dearness allowance for employees, the state government, in line with tradition, quickly implemented the increase. However, due to the Model Code of Conduct during the upcoming elections, the proposal was initially sent to the Election Commission.
Assembly Election Schedule
With the nomination process commencing on October 30, candidates have until November 6 to file their nomination papers. The scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled for November 7, allowing candidates to withdraw their nominations until November 9. On November 25, simultaneous voting will occur across the entire state, and the election results will be announced on December 3.
The decision to enhance dearness allowance is expected to bring relief to government employees and pensioners in Rajasthan just in time for the festive season.
