Rajasthan News: The Mewat region of Rajasthan, infamous for its high rate of cybercrime, is facing a renewed crackdown by authorities. In a bold move, Bharatpur Range IG Police Rahul Prakash has launched a special campaign, including a dedicated WhatsApp number, to directly combat cyber criminals and empower citizens to report incidents.
Direct Line to IG
Recognizing the challenges faced by victims in reporting cybercrime, IG Prakash has taken an innovative step. He shared his official WhatsApp number (8764505101) on social media, inviting citizens to directly report cybercrimes and criminal activities. “Any citizen can give information about cyber crimes and other criminals on this number,” he stated, assuring complete confidentiality.
Crackdown on “Mini Jamtara”
Mewat, often dubbed “Mini Jamtara” after the infamous cybercrime hub in Jharkhand, has seen a surge in cyber frauds. IG Prakash revealed that 18% of the country’s cybercrimes originate from this region, impacting not only locals but also individuals across India. To address this, police from various states regularly conduct raids in the area.
Fighting Back Against Cyber Thugs
The campaign builds on previous efforts. Earlier, police operations recovered illegal SIM cards worth lakhs and arrested 81 cybercriminals, seizing over Rs 25 lakh. Despite these actions, cybercrime continues to plague the region. This new initiative aims to empower citizens, improve reporting, and ultimately dismantle the network of cyber thugs operating in Mewat.
