Rajasthan News: In a significant move aimed at transforming the railway landscape of Rajasthan, the state’s railway budget for the upcoming fiscal year has been unveiled in the Lok Sabha. With a focus on bolstering rail connectivity and passenger amenities, the budget allocates a substantial sum of Rs 9714.28 crore to the North Western Railways, marking an increase of Rs 12.47 crore compared to the previous year.
Expansion Projects
Underlining the commitment to enhancing railway infrastructure, the budget earmarks funds for the construction of 8 new railway lines and the doubling of 7 existing lines across Rajasthan. Among the notable new lines are the Dausa-Gangapurcity stretch covering 92.67 km, Ratlam-Dungarpur spanning 176.47 km, and the Ajmer-Kota route extending 145 km. These projects, along with others, signify a significant step towards improving connectivity and facilitating economic growth in the region.
Doubling Initiatives
Additionally, the budget focuses on doubling several railway lines, including Phulera-Degana, Degana-Rai Ka Bagh, and Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur, among others. These efforts aim to alleviate congestion, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure smoother rail travel experiences for passengers.
Infrastructure Enhancement
The railway budget also prioritizes the strengthening of infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on safety measures and passenger amenities. A substantial allocation of more than Rs 1625 crore has been set aside for various infrastructure development projects, including track renewal, construction of road over bridges (ROBs) and road under bridges (RUBs), signal and telecommunication upgrades, and the expansion of passenger facilities.
Focus on Safety and Passenger Comfort
A significant portion of the budget, amounting to Rs 700 crore, has been allocated for track renovation, underscoring the commitment to ensuring safe and reliable rail services. Moreover, Rs 750 crore has been earmarked for enhancing passenger amenities, reflecting the importance placed on improving the overall travel experience for passengers.
