Rajasthan News: In response to the nationwide ‘Bharat Bandh’ scheduled for August 21, which has been called to oppose the Supreme Court’s ruling on excluding the “creamy layer” from the SC/ST quota, the Rajasthan police have ramped up efforts to ensure that the protests remain peaceful across the state.
The SC/ST groups in Rajasthan, under the banner of the SC-ST Samyukta Sangharsh Samiti, have extended their support to the Bharat Bandh. The Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP), Umesh Mishra, has issued strict instructions to all district Superintendents of Police (SPs) to coordinate with local SC/ST organizations to manage the situation effectively.
DGP Mishra emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order, directing all SPs to engage with social organizations backing the Bandh. “We have instructed our officials to organize meetings with both the groups calling for the Bandh and market associations to facilitate better cooperation and ensure that the protests pass off peacefully,” Mishra stated on Monday.
Increased Police Deployment Across Districts
In anticipation of potential unrest, all districts have been advised to bolster police deployment to prevent any tension or violence. In Jaipur, Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph led discussions with a group that has declared its support for the Bandh. These meetings are part of a broader strategy to ensure that law and order are maintained throughout the state on the day of the protests.
Focus on Preventive Measures
The Rajasthan police’s approach highlights a proactive stance in engaging with community leaders and protest organizers to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety of the public. By increasing police presence and facilitating dialogue, the authorities aim to mitigate any risks associated with the nationwide protest.
