Rajasthan News: In a bid to support talented and needy students from the Barmer and Balotra regions of western Rajasthan, social activist Ruma Devi has established the Ruma Devi Sugni Devi Akshara Scholarship. Online applications are currently being accepted for this scholarship program, with the deadline set for June 15, 2024. The selected candidates will receive a total support fund of Rs. 20 lakh, with Rs. 75,000 allocated annually to female students pursuing medical education and Rs. 25,000 to other deserving students.

Hari Gadwal, the coordinator of the program, highlighted the special provision within the scheme aimed at promoting girls’ education, medical, and engineering studies. Under this provision, 60% of the seats are reserved for girls, ensuring their access to quality education. Additionally, four seats have been secured for girls selected in the field of medical education, each receiving an annual scholarship of Rs. 3 lakh.
