Rajasthan News: Water Resource Minister Suresh Singh Rawat announced the establishment of a Run-Off Water Grid in the state to manage flood security and optimize the use of water that otherwise goes to waste. The project, estimated to cost ₹30,000 crore, aims to ensure the efficient use of water resources across Rajasthan. Minister Rawat emphasized that water conservation and its proper utilization is a collective responsibility. The government, under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s leadership, has already initiated work on this ambitious project.
Statewide Water Festival Organized
Minister Suresh Singh Rawat, speaking at an event in Nevta, Jaipur, under the Rajasthan Water Festival on Saturday, highlighted the importance of water conservation. The festival, organized on the occasion of “Jal Jhoolni Ekadashi,” was held across the state at gram panchayat, block, and district levels. Events were conducted at fully-filled reservoirs and 385 dams, where citizens and public representatives participated in large numbers, offering prayers to water deities. The festival aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of water conservation and ensure community participation.
Major Project Like ERCP Launched
Minister Rawat further stated that the government has prioritized irrigation and drinking water projects, with significant work beginning on the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). This project will utilize surplus water from the Parvati, Kalisindh, and Chambal rivers for irrigation and drinking purposes across 21 districts of the state. Additionally, work to bring Yamuna water to the Shekhawati region has also commenced. The Jaipur district will benefit from ERCP, providing essential water resources to the people in the area.
