Rajasthan Political Crisis: 92 MLAs resign in fresh crisis for Congress

In a major late-night spectacle in the desert state of Rajasthan, over 90 Rajasthan Congress MLAs have handed in their resignation letters to the assembly speaker, CP Joshi, at his residence. According to the sources, all of the resigned MLAs will travel from the Speaker’s house to Ashok Gehlot’s official residence.

At Cabinet Minister Shanti Dhariwal’s home this evening, the MLAs of the Gehlot group took a stance against Sachin Pilot and his bid to succeed Ashok Gehlot as Congress president and become the next chief minister. Gehlot’s supporters want the next CM to be someone who had backed the administration amid Pilot’s public uprising in 2020.

In the 200-member House, Congress has 108 MLAs, BJP has 71, RLP 3, BTP, CPM 2, and RJD 1, and there are 200 total members. 13 individuals are independent.

At Dhariwal’s house, all the resignations were collected.

Sources within the Congress claim that Rahul Gandhi’s team has sprung into action to combat the enormous crisis the party is currently facing. Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken, the party’s Rajasthan in-charge, spoke with Ashok Gehlot after senior party leader and MP KC Venugopal spoke with them.

Congress has 108 MLAs in the 200-member House while BJP has 71, RLP 3, BTP and CPM 2 each, and RJD 1. There are 13 independents.

“Mere bass Mein Kuch Nahi hai (nothing is in my hands),” Gehlot reportedly had told Venugopal earlier, the sources said.
