Recently, when the decision was taken to make Gulabchand Kataria, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly there were discussions in the politics.
A strong leader like Kataria has been rewarded for his lifetime service by being made governor by the party. On the other hand, the BJP cut off the name of a leader who could have been a contender for the Chief Minister’s post in the state BJP over the post of Chief Minister.
It is important to remember that even during the last assembly elections, Kataria had announced to start a political journey from Mewar. This was the time when Vasundhara was the sitting CM.
This was the reason why Kataria could not go on a political journey. Obviously, just before the 2018 elections, the central high command did not want to take any kind of risk and wanted to avoid any political imbalance by challenging Vasundhara Raje’s supremacy in the BJP.
It is true that Vasundhara was facing constant opposition from the Rajput community. The special thing is that this protest was because of the Anandpal Encounter and the screw was that Gulabchand Kataria, being the then Home Minister, was also a participant in the cause of the protest.
The result was that BJP contested on the face of Vasundhara Raje and lost the election. Although Vasundhara’s supporters said that there has been a tradition of changing the government in Rajasthan and it would not be right to blame Vasundhara for the defeat.
Rajasthan BJP has done many experiments as a leader
During the last four and a half years, Rajasthan BJP has done many experiments as a leader, many faces were also explored in BJP, but so far no such new leader has appeared in the field. Be it like Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, or the kind of craze that was seen for Vasundhara Raje in 2003 after Vasundhara’s violent caste meetings.
Overall, after groping all the faces, BJP found that at present there is no such face in BJP. Who holds a mass appeal as CM.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, defeating Vaibhav, the son of the sitting CM Gehlot, in the elections was a feather in his cap. Along with this, his direct access to the Delhi court kept blowing air in his favor. But the magic that Delhi was expecting from some face on the land of Rajasthan. Unquestionably, it does not seem to end on Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in today’s date.
Modi Shah and Nadda know that the assembly elections to be held in 4 states including Rajasthan before 2024 can decide a lot and that is the reason why they do not want to lose Rajasthan out of hand under any circumstances. For the last few days, Vasundhara’s meetings and the preference Vasundhara is getting in Modi’s meeting is also making it clear that the distance between the high command and Vasundhara has not only reduced, but the high command is in a mood to decide something about Vasundhara.
This is the reason why when it came time to finalize the name of the governor, there was no thought of making Vasundhara the governor. It is clear that the high command does not want to exclude Vasundhara from active politics at present. Along with this, the re-appearance of Vasundhara from the posters of Rajasthan BJP for a long time is indicating that she is at the forefront of the race.
