Rajasthan Weather Update: Rajasthan continued to suffer under an intense heatwave for the 17th consecutive day on Friday with temperatures soaring across the state. Most areas experienced a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures, which were almost three degrees above normal.
Phalodi was the hottest place in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 50.1 degrees Celsius. The Rajasthan Meteorological Department attributed the persistent high temperatures to active northerly winds and the absence of factors such as upper air cyclonic circulation and western disturbances. The Met office warned that these conditions are expected to persist for the next few days.

Jaipur also experienced a scorching afternoon, with temperatures reaching 45.6 degrees Celsius, nearly 3.5 degrees above normal. In response to the extreme heat, traders and market associations in some areas set up stations providing chilled drinking water and sharbat (sweet drink) to commuters.
The heatwave has had significant impacts on public health and infrastructure. Hospitals in the city have reported an increase in the number of patients suffering from heat stroke. Additionally, the ongoing heatwave has disrupted drinking water supplies in several localities in Jaipur, exacerbating the challenges faced by residents.
As the state grapples with this prolonged period of extreme heat, authorities and local organizations are urged to take additional measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the population.
