Political storm has taken a new turn in Rajasthan. After meeting Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot made it clear that now he will not contest the election for the post of National President of Congress. Gehlot looked quite disheartened after exiting 10 Janpath. He presented a clarification on the developments in Rajasthan in front of Sonia Gandhi for about one and a half hours.
According to media reports, Gehlot had come to meet the Congress President after noting every issue on a plain paper.
On his exit after the meeting, Gehlot interacted with the media. He said, ‘I have spoken with the Congress President. I have always acted as a loyal soldier. The incident that happened on the day of the legislature party meeting shook everyone. It was as if I wanted to continue as the chief minister, so I apologized to her’.
Gehlot further said, ‘It has always been a tradition here that we pass a one-line proposal to the high command. Despite being the Chief Minister, I could not get this one-line proposal passed, it will be sad that. This incident gave many types of messages inside the country.
The way Ashok Gehlot gave a statement after meeting Sonia Gandhi, it is clear that now something big can happen in Rajasthan. It is possible that Ashok Gehlot himself should quit the post of Chief Minister and support Sachin Pilot. By making Pilot the Chief Minister, he can make his close MLA as Deputy Chief Minister. Apart from this, the pilot and himself can also try to end the dispute. By taking both the parties together, one can try to resolve all the differences by meeting.
Gehlot can come back to the organization after resigning from the post of Chief Minister. It is possible that by forgiving Gehlot’s mistakes, the Congress high command should make him the state president. This will also calm the legislators of both the camps.
Presently Congress MLAs are divided into two factions. If the MLA does not agree even after Gehlot’s advice, then in such a situation it is possible that Ashok Gehlot should be allowed to continue as the CM. His responsibility should also be fixed and Sachin Pilot should be called in the politics of the Center.
