Ranchi News: Centre gives nod for Village Relocation to reduce human stress around the Reserve Core area

Ranchi News: In order to have human population and biotic stress around the Reserve’s core area, the state department of forest has received the nod for shifting the residents of a village from the near by areas of Palamu Tiger Reserve. The Forest Ministry has approved the state government’s proposal to shift 120 houses of kujrum village which is located near the south side of Palamu Tiger Reserve. These houses have been shifted to a forest which is spread over an area of 166 hectare. The Kujrum, Latu and Jageer Pahar villages have been chosen for migration by the Management

Villagers will be given Rupees 5 lakh Compensation

The management has decided to compensate these villagers by giving them 5 lakh rupees, so that these people can build their new houses and start up their lives in their new houses. The move has been taken with a view to keep the Tiger Reserve free of the Human Population so that the area should be dedicated to the presence of animals only.

300 Houses identified for Relocation

The members of the Gram Panchayat’s of these villages have been informed of the shifting of the houses and the compensation. 300 houses have been chosen for migration. The villagers were asked to think and take a call whether they want to stick to the decision of moving from their homes or not.
