Ranchi News: The Jharkhand Government has asked the state Government to submit a detailed report on the measures being taken to prevent incidents related to Witch Hunting in the city. The court was hearing a Public Litigation filed by a Petitioner on the increase in the number of people being involved in witch hunting practices and many of them even losing lives by accidentally becoming victims of such practices. The court has mentioned September 9 as the next day for hearing on the matter.
‘People branded as witches are frequent’
The court was concerned about the whole matter as the state government has taken many steps in the past but so far nothing has been done to prevent the cases and the incidents related to the act. A lot of educated people also get involved in such acts just to attain some sort of benefit in their business or love life. The judges said that incidents of people being lynched and people branded as witched has been reported many a times.
‘Rural Areas are a Hotbed of Superstition’
The court also said that superstition has to be dealt with on a massive scale to stop evil practices in the society. The court said that people needs to be aware about such practice and continuous awareness Programs needs to be planned.
