Ranchi News: RIMS Implements Changes to Ensure Medication Availability and Patient Convenience in Emergencies

Ranchi News

Ranchi News: In RIMS, junior doctors in the emergency department will no longer instruct patients to bring medicines from outside. Any junior doctors who request patients to bring medicines from outside will face administrative actions by the RIMS management. All necessary medications required in emergencies will be made available.

Doctors Dr. Rajesh and Dr. Shishir from the Physiology department will monitor the stock of medicines. In case of shortages, the availability of medicines will be ensured at least three days in advance. If medicines are still not available, a verified prescription will be sent out only after validation by the PDO, SOD, and CMO.

In regular situations, junior doctors who ask patients to bring medicines from outside will face consequences. To address this issue, an emergency and trauma center helpline number will be displayed on the notice board, where patients or their relatives can file complaints.

Nurses will write on the prescription

In the event of medicine unavailability in an emergency, nurses will write on the prescription that the medicine is not available in stock. Subsequently, a PDO physician on duty will verify whether the medicine is in stock or not. After that, an SOD surgeon on duty will inspect it. Then, the CMO will verify it, and all three doctors will sign off on it. Only after this process will patients be instructed to bring the medicine from outside.

A list of essential emergency medicines has been requested

Dr. Rajeev Kumar Gupta, the director of RIMS, mentioned that most patients in the emergency department come from four departments:
Medicine, Neurosurgery, Surgery, and Ortho. A list of all necessary medicines required in emergencies has been requested. Most of these medicines are available in RIMS. Medicines that are not available will be locally procured when needed.

Patients will face fewer difficulties

Under the current system, most patients coming to the emergency are told to bring many necessary medicines from outside. Many times, patients even buy syringes, cotton, and gauze themselves from outside.

This situation will be rectified within three days. Dr. Rajeev Gupta emphasized that most medicines are available at RIMS. Junior doctors are allowed to instruct patients to bring medicines from outside at their discretion. All arrangements will be set right within three days.

Formal inauguration of the dialysis unit will be on the 31st

The formal inauguration of the dialysis unit at RIMS will take place on October 31. Starting from that day, OPD patients will also have access to dialysis services. Previously, only admitted patients were receiving dialysis.

Patients are getting relief from the hassle of testing

With the commencement of the central lab at the RIMS Trauma Center, the issue of patient testing inconvenience has largely been resolved. In the past year, the shortage of residents had affected testing. Now, patients are receiving reports within six to eight hours.

Previously, patients were receiving test reports every two days. However, patients are still facing difficulties in radiology-related tests, and this issue will be resolved soon. Every effort is being made to ensure that patients do not face any inconvenience during any type of examination.
