Jharkhand Schools Closed: Due to the extreme cold, Jharkhand Schools will be closed to students in grades KG through 5 till January 14, 2023. For students in classes KG through VIII at all government-aided, recognised, and private schools in the state, the schools will be closed. Beginning January 16, regular classes will resume.
Jharkhand schools closed till 14th of January
In a circular, it was notified, “All schools in Jharkhand, from KG to std 5, to remain closed till 14th January due to cold wave. Regular classes to resume from 16th January.” Orders to keep schools closed have been issued by the education authorities of many states. In the past, the Uttar Pradesh government issued a directive ordering Lucknow schools to stay closed for kids in grades up to 8 from January 9 to January 14 due to the cold wave conditions.
Several states, including Jharkhand, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, are experiencing a cold wave. In these states, the temperature is dropping, bringing on cold conditions and thick fog. Punjab winter vacations have also been extended to January 14th before Jharkhand.

Schools in UP shut due to coldwave
Earlier, in a circular Lucknow district magistrate notified, “In view of the difficulty being faced by the students in reaching the schools due to the extreme cold wave, all schools in urban and rural areas from Class-1 to class-8 in Lucknow, holiday is declared in schools from 09.01.2023 to 14.01.2023.”
Due to the cold weather, schools across the country are closed till January 14. According to IMD weather reports, there will be bad weather and severe fog in several locations during the next few days. Parents and students are encouraged to get in touch with the school administration for updates.
