Child labour: Uttar Pradesh police rescued seven children working as labour in a carpet factory in Mirzapur district. The police were assisted by the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), officials said on Thursday.
All the rescued children were from Araria in Bihar, officials said. They were in the age group 9-15.
Labour enforcement officer Jai Prakash Singh said the AHTU team got a tip-off on Wednesday and accompanied by a police team, raided the carpet factory of Sunil Kumar Maurya.
Factory owner escapes
However, Maurya managed to flee with some of them, the police and AHTU team rescued seven children aged between 9-15 years.

All the children were presented before the child welfare committee and sent to a shelter home. An FIR was registered against the owner of the carpet factory under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.
Investigations were on into the matter.
