Hemkund Sahib Yatra: Children and people over the age of 60 are not allowed to go due to the severe snowfall in Hemkund Sahib, according to officials. On May 20, the yatra is slated to start. Children under the age of six and people over the age of 60 are not permitted to travel because Hemkund Sahib has seven to eight feet of snow. On May 20, Hemkund Sahib’s doors will be opened, according to the official announcement.
Chamoli Collector Assesses Hemkund Sahib Preparations
According to Narendrajit Singh Bindra, the president of the Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara Management Committee, the Chamoli district administration has given orders to limit the number of pilgrims visiting Hemkund. Himanshu Khurana, the Chamoli DM, walked 18 km earlier on May 14 to assess the state of the yatra’s preparations, which are expected to start on May 20. From Govind Ghat Gurudwara, DM Khurana began his inspection and eventually arrived at Hemkund Sahib. He also gave the appropriate people orders to make all the necessary preparations in the allotted time during his visit.

DM Assesses Facilities for Pilgrims at Hemkund Sahib
DM examined every setup, including the plumbing, power, toilets, hygiene, and medical facilities. In addition, DM examined the yatra’s on-road amenities, including railings, parking, approach roads, bridges, shelters from the elements, benches, and the rescue helipad. He requested that officials erect hectometre markers and signage along the path for the benefit of pilgrims. According to an official, he also gave the Jal Sansthan instructions to launch water ATMs in Ghangharia and place water ATMs close to the medical relief post and passenger shed in Bhundar.
