Significant increase in property tax collection in Delhi, CM Kejriwal lauds MCD

MCD News: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)collected an impressive amount of property tax in the first quarter of 2023, receiving applause from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo lauded the civic body’s collection of property taxes.

Delhi CM Attacks BJP

The Delhi Chief Minister also attacked BJP, which operated the MCD for the last 15 years. Kejriwal stated, “Previously, during the BJP’s tenure, people did not pay tax.” They believed that the tax they had paid would be stolen. People have begun to pay taxes with the inception of the Aam Aadmi Party government. He is certain that today there is an honest government, and that every penny would be spent on people’s growth.

Significant increase in property tax: Mayor Oberoi

In a press conference, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi stated that property tax collection has increased significantly until the first quarter of 2023-24, i.e. from April to June. She stated that a total of Rs 1113 crore in property tax was collected in the first quarter of this year. The Delhi Mayor previously stated that the collection for the first quarter of 2022-23 was Rs 695 crore. Similarly, Rs 540 crore was recovered in the fiscal year 2021-22’s first quarter.

While greeting the people of Delhi, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi stated, “I would like to inform you that the Municipal Corporation’s tax revenue this time was Rs 1113 crore.” That is greater than the previous three to four years, she stated adding that the tax rise was only feasible because the people of Delhi chose an honest government. People’s trust in the Kejriwal government has grown solely as a result of its honest efforts and policies.
