Sikkim Cloudburst: Following a rapid cloud burst above Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim, a flash flood in the Teesta River in Lachen Valley caused at least 23 army troops to go missing. In a statement, the Army stated that some vehicles are reportedly buried in the slush. Some military installations in the valley were impacted by the cloudburst.

Chungthang Dam’s Water Release Wreaks Havoc

Army trucks parked at Bardang near Singtam were impacted by the unexpected rise in water level caused by the release of water from Chungthang Dam, which was located upstream. Search efforts are in progress. Prem Singh Tamang, the chief minister, assessed the situation in Singtam during the flood-like conditions brought on by the cloudburst.

No Loss of Life, but Singtam Suffers Public Property Damage

No lives have been lost, but public property has been damaged in Singtam, according to BJP leader Ugyen Tshering Gyatso Bhutia. “There has been no loss of life but public properties have been damaged in Singtam. There is information about some people missing. Efforts are underway to find them,” Bhutia said, as quoted by the news agency ANI.
