Sitapur Viral Video: A heinous crime was reported in Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh, wherein a 70-year-old man identified as Anwar Khan had allegedly molested a minor girl inside his shop. The young victim, who went to the shop of accused Khan to purchase household goods on April 3, 2024, lodged a complaint against the accused with the police.
Disturbing Video Sparks Outrage
A Sitapur Viral Video of the heinous act surfaced on social media, which outraged the local community and thus prompted quick action on the part of the Sitapur police. It showed the offensive behavior of Khan, who touched the minor girl indecently.
Succumbing to public outcry, the police readily took cognisance of the matter and arrested the accused, Anwar Khan, under stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act. The complaint was filed by the mother of the victim girl.
Charges Filed Under POCSO and SC/ST Acts
“In the incident of molestation of a girl on 3.4.24, a case number 410/24 under sections 74 BNS, 9m/10 POCSO Act, 3(1)(w)(i), 3(2)(va) SC/ST Act was registered at Hargaon and the accused Anwar Khan, son of Akbar Khan, resident of Tarapatpur police station village, district Sitapur, aged about 70 years, was arrested.,” Sitapur police wrote in a post on X.
This gory incident has underlined once again the dire need to instill better protection mechanisms for children and ensuring their security in public. The authorities are obliged to take stringent measures against such perpetrators, send a strong message, and deter recurrence of such incidents.
