Srinagar: Police reported that four terrorists were killed in an encounter this morning after security personnel stopped a truck they were travelling in outside of Jammu.
According to police, the truck caught fire during the gunfight, and firefighters were dispatched to put it out.
“There was unusual movement of a truck in the area. Police stopped the truck at check post. As security forces started searching the truck, terrorist hiding inside fired at security forces. All the terrorists were killed in retaliatory fire,” Mukesh Singh, the additional director general of Jammu’s police, said.
The truck driver, according to Mr. Singh, has managed to get away, and a search effort is underway to find him.

The burned-out truck contained an enormous stockpile of weapons and ammo that was found.
Seven AK rifles, one M4 carbine, three handguns, and additional ammunition, according to Mr. Singh, were found. He was driving a truck from Jammu to Srinagar.
The entire region was immediately blocked off and all highway traffic was halted following the encounter.
According to police, the encounter began around seven in the morning.

Similar terrorist attack was prevented in Udhampur, yesterday
Yesterday, a significant terrorist attack was prevented in Udhampur, close to Jammu, thanks to authorities defusing a 15 kilogram improvised explosive device (IED).
According to officials, the discovery of the cylindrical IED, 300-400 grams of RDX, seven 7.62 mm bullets, and five detonators in the Basantgarh area led to the disruption of a significant terror plot.
In addition, police captured a suspect and found a coded sheet and letter-pad page belonging to the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
