Sanjay Raut, the leader of the Uddhav Thackeray side, criticised Sharad Pawar, the leader of the National Congress Party (NCP), for being on stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, in Raut’s opinion, was responsible for the breakup of the NCP, which was headed by senior Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar.
Raut claimed that people were appalled that Sharad Pawar will share a platform with the prime minister who had accused his party (NCP) of corruption in the Shiv Sena daily Saamana.
Sanjay Raut made the idea to Sharad Pawar that by declining to share the stage with PM Modi, he had the chance to dispel any negative perceptions of him.
“The country has been fighting against the dictatorship of Modi. Under the same endeavour the alliance INDIA was formed. Sharad Pawar is an important part of that alliance,” said Sanjay Raut, adding “Felicitating a politician, who is against democratic norms, with an award named after Bal Gangadhar Tilak would be an injustice to Tilak’s struggle for independence”.
The opposition in Parliament would protest the “undemocratic” Delhi ordinance that the central government had presented, and at the same time, Sharad Pawar would be presenting PM Modi with an award, according to Raut.
He stressed that the fact that PM Modi accepted an award from a person he referred to as “corrupt” proves that the PM was concerned about corruption and that he simply brought up the subject to intimidate opposition leaders and split the parties.
At an award ceremony in Pune on Tuesday, Sharad Pawar, the founder of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared the stage and shook hands. Following a rift in Sharad Pawar’s party, the two leaders initially spoke.
At a ceremony, the prime minister, who came in Maharashtra today, received the esteemed Lokmanya Tilak National Award.
