After the government on Sunday appointed six new faces as governors and reshuffled seven others, a new verbal battle broke out.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore remarked that those who work for Modi are now governors since retired Supreme Court judge S Abdul Nazeer, who was involved in the 2019 Ayodhya verdict, was appointed as the state’s governor. “Modi work for Adani…who work for Modi are now Governors. Who works for people then? Bharat Mata ki Jai,” the Congress MP tweeted.
Without referring to the appointments, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh shared a tweet containing a video of late Arun Jaitley. “Pre-retirement judgments are influenced by post-retirement jobs,” Jaitley said in that 2012 video. “Adequate proof of this in the past 3-4 years for sure,” Jairam Ramesh tweeted.
On January 4, 2023, Justice Syed Abdul Nazeer, a former Supreme Court of India justice, announced his retirement. He will succeed Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, the Governor of Chhattisgarh, who has been transferred.
One of the many notable judgments he participated in was the Ayodhya case. He was the only Muslim member of the Constitution bench to vote in favour of the Ram Janmabhoomi in the Ayodhya case, which was decided unanimously.
BJP leader BL Santhosh attacked the “Congress-Left” ecosystem, calling it a group of people who follow the motto “Do as I say, not as I do.”
“As has become a practice now a days Congi – Left eco system opposes appointment of Justice ( Rtd ) Abdul Nazeer ‘s appointment as Governor of Andhra Pradesh . His biggest sin acc to eco system is Sri Ram Janma Bhumi judgement . DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO brigade in action,” the BJP leader tweeted.
The 2016 demonetisation process was supported by the Constitution Bench, which included Justice Abdul Nazeer.
