Umesh Pal murder: Balli Pandit, the henchman of Umesh Pal murder main suspect and convicted gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed close aide, has been taken into custody by Prayagraj Police. Five days prior to the murder, surveillance cameras captured brief glimpses of the shooter Pandit meeting with Atiq’s wife. A clip from the footage later went viral on social media.
The shooter responsible for killing Umesh Pal, Shabir, who has been missing ever since his name was mentioned in connection with the case, was also visible in the viral video. On March 5, the Uttar Pradesh Police offered a Rs 2.5 lakh reward for any information that would result in the arrest of the culprits in the murder of Umesh Pal. This included Shabir.
Shabir’s Brother Found Dead
Shabir’s brother was discovered dead in a field on March 9 in the Uttar Pradeshi district of Kaushambi. Zakir, 50, a native of Mariadih village in Prayagraj, was named as the deceased. After spent 10 years in prison for a dowry and murder case, Zakir was finally freed a few months ago.
About the Umesh Pal murder case
On February 24 (Friday) evening, Umesh Pal, the key witness in the 2005 BSP Lawmaker Raju Pal murder case, was shot and killed at his home in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. After defeating former MP Atiq Ahmed’s younger brother Khalid Azim to win the Allahabad (West) assembly seat in his first election, Raju Pal was assassinated a few months later. The main suspects in the murder of Raju Pal are Atiq Ahmed, his brother, and ex-MLA Ashraf. All the accused are presently lodged in jail.
Know about all culprits
The Prayagraj police had detained a number of persons in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal and had filed a FIR against Atiq’s brother, his wife Sahista Praveen, and his kids Ahzaan and Abaan.
The murder plot was hatched by Atiq Ahmed when he was in the Sabarmati jail in Gujarat, and he enlisted the aid of his brother and his colleagues to carry it out, according to the investigation conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force.
