In a sweeping operation against Boudh Distillery Private Limited based in Odisha, the income-tax department has unearthed an estimated Rs 250 crore in unaccounted cash. Launched on Wednesday, the raids have already resulted in the recovery of over Rs 200 crore in cash. The meticulous counting process, utilizing three dozen machines, is progressing at a measured pace due to the limited capacity of the counting equipment.

Congress MP’s Premises Scrutinized Amidst the Probe

The investigation has taken a political turn as premises linked to Dhiraj Prasad Sahu, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Congress representing Jharkhand, were also covered during the searches. The raids, signaling a comprehensive inquiry, are indicative of the authorities’ commitment to addressing financial irregularities and ensuring accountability across various entities.

Silence from Distillery Group Amidst Growing Scrutiny

Despite attempts to seek clarification, an email to the distillery group sent on Thursday has yet to elicit a response. The ongoing investigation highlights the significance of tackling financial improprieties and underscores the need for transparency in economic transactions within the country.
