Uttar Pradesh: On Friday Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and handed over keys to 76 flats to poor people that are built on land confiscated from gangster turned politician Atiq Ahmed. CM Yogi announced that houses for poor are being built on land that earlier was encroached upon by Mafia, businesses and even government.
In October, Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) had prepared a blueprint for the construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) on land that was confiscated from Atiq Ahmed and his gang.
Inauguration of development projects
CM Adityanath also inaugurated 226 development projects in the city. He also adressed a crowd and stated “Keys to flats, built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, on the land confiscated from the mafia are being handed over to 76 families.
“This is the same state where prior to 2017, the mafia used to encroach upon the land of the poor, businessmen, and the government. But now housing units are being built on the land freed from the mafia. I tell all the officials today, to build such housing units on land freed from the mafia in their respective areas. This will instill confidence in people.”
Housing for Poor
The CM announced this initiative is one of its kind and will be landmark for future initiatives like this. Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that the government is building houses for poor on land owned by government as per a resolve made made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He further added “Our Government will vacate all such illegal encroachments, build houses for the poor, and hand over to them.”
