UP Municipal Election Results: First results in; BSP wins in Agra ward

UP Municipal Election Results: The counting of votes for Urban Local Bodies (ULB) polls in Uttar Pradesh began at 8am on Saturday. The polling was held in two phases. The first phase of polling took place on May 4 in 37 districts while the 38 districts went to polls on May 11.

As the counting continued, Bahujan Samaj Party claimed Ward No 1 From Agra.

Early trends showed Samajwadi Party was leading on six seats, BSP was leading on three seats and BJP on two in Firozabad Jasrana nagar panchayat postal ballot counting. Two independent candidates were also leading.

First result in, BSP wins

In Firozabad’s Sirsaganj Municipality, BJP was ahead in postal ballot counting. Out of 43 postal ballots, BJP got 35 votes, SP got 7 and BSP got one vote.

Leaving both BJP and Congress behind, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading from Amethi Nagar Panchayat.

BJP led on Ayodhya mayor seat. The sitting mayor is also from the Bharatiya Janta Party.

Early trends showed BSP was trailing behind BJP in Saharanpur

There are 83,378 candidates in the fray for 14,522 posts, according to the EC. Around 53 per cent voter turnout was registered in both phases. During campaigning, Yogi Adityanath had slammed Samajwadi Party for fielding criminals in the fray. He alleged those responsible for riots and curfews in Kanpur were its candidates in the urban local body polls.
