UP News: Bihar-Bound Train in Uttar Pradesh Catches Fire, 19 Injured

UP News: Early on Thursday, a fire broke out in a Delhi-Saharsa Vaishali Superfast Express carriage in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, injuring at least 19 passengers. According to Uday Shankar, CO of Railways, the fire was discovered in the S6 coach close to the pantry car at 2:30 in the morning while the train was in route from Delhi to Saharsa in Bihar. The cause of the fire was unknown at first.

Passengers Grab Buckets to Tackle Coach Fire

Images from the scene showed some others attempting to put out the coach fire with buckets of water. “The fire occurred in the coach near the pantry car. Nineteen people were injured. An investigation will take place as to why the fire broke out,” Shankar said. Shankar continued, “Eleven people with breathing issues were referred to PGI.” He added that the other eight people were brought to a district hospital with minor burn injuries. This was the second occurrence involving a train fire in Etawah.

Wednesday Blaze

Three New Delhi-Darbhanga Superfast Express coaches caught fire on Wednesday. The event resulted in a few minor injuries, according to officials. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Etawah, stated that the preliminary investigation indicated a short circuit as the fire’s origin. The train caught fire, and some people leaped out of it. There were reportedly more people aboard the train than it could hold.
