UP News: Ayodhya has been subjected to another controversy. The city that had recently been in the news due to allegations of missing street lights of the Rampath area in the city of Ayodhya got the clock racing on the morning of August 14. This news spread like wildfire through social media, embroiling intense public and political interest.
Claims of Massive Theft in Ayodhya
According to reports, over 3,800 bamboo lights and 36 gobo projector lights, worth more than ₹50 lakh, were allegedly stolen from Rampath and Bhakti Path in Ayodhya. This claim further fueled debates and criticism, much of which happened over social media, where the hashtag #AyodhyaTheft was trending.
On the theft charges, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav managed an opening to point out the failures of the present BJP-led state government. On his official handle on X, Yadav posted a scathing remark saying, “Thieves have turned off the light of law and order in UP-Ayodhya. That is why the public was already saying— pole khada hai bijli nahi. BJP government means Andher Nagari, darkness everywhere.”. Ayodhya says today’s, we don’t want BJP.” This sharp critique underlines the political volatility that comprises the controversy as Yadav’s comments escalate the criticism of the ruling government’s ability to handle law and order.
Political Reactions Intensify the Debate
The political fallout from the reported robbery has brought the situation into a clear light, far-reaching discussions about the efficacy of prevailing administration’s security measure. However, the allegations have also sparked a response from local authorities. Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal spoke to IANS, a news agency, regarding the allegations. Dayal explained that such a large-scale theft couldn’t have been committed in view of the strict security. He indicated probably lights had not been installed at all, and if a complaint in this regard was lodged against somebody, then false allegations would be framed against the persons concerned.
The controversy raises issues not only of security but also of the transparency and accountability of governance in this place. The mixed responses from political figures and officials reflect broader debates about whether the current administration is effective in handling public resources and maintaining order.
The situation remains fluid as the investigation into the alleged theft goes on. Much about the veracity of the theft claims and local authority responses is expected to be revealed in the coming few days. For now, Ayodhya has been thrown into the spotlight, having to grapple with consequences such as reputation and governance issued by the controversy.
