UP News: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh responded by passing a directive that all state government employees have to furnish information regarding their properties on the Manav Sampada portal. While this action was taken with the aim of making the system more transparent, it had mandated that the employees uploaded the details by September 30. More than 39,000 employees did not comply with the directive.
Major Departments Affected as Employees Miss Property Details Deadline
A report by India Today says 7,88,506 employees from 90 government departments have submitted their property details of which 8,27,583 employees are working. However, 39,077 employees ignored the directive. Thus, it is learnt that the Yogi government of UP has withheld salaries of these defaulting employees for the month of October.
This includes some of the most important departments like Textile, Sainik Welfare, Energy, Sports, Agriculture, and Women Welfare, etc. Whereas the level of compliance differs with department, the highest percentage of compliance noted was in the departments such as UP Police with 99.65% compliance, Agriculture with 99%, and Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry, Medical Education, and AYUSH, wherein, each of the department found more than 95% compliance.
Salary Withheld for Non-Compliance
Staunch responses from the government made it clear that the employees who refuse to upload their property details will continue having their salaries withheld until they comply. This move has sparked mixed opinions about the whole action, which has continued a long discussion at work. One argument is that the move will be of a major stride towards transparency and accountability in the nation’s forums. On the contrary side, some argue that the action infringes on employees’ rights.
The decisive step by the government has pushed up pressure on the 39,000 employees who have so far failed to comply. Whether they will submit their details or further action would be taken by the state government remains to be seen.
