UP News: At Akhilesh Yadav’s poll rally in Azamgarh on Tuesday, the audience got too exuberant and unruly, resulting in another stampede-like event. At Akhilesh Yadav‘s rally, supporters of Inspector Prasad Saroj, the Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate for the Lalganj Lok Sabha constituency, breached security protocols, including barricades, and surged onto the stage when the SP president was in attendance. The Nizamabad Assembly region’s Kherwa Turn is where the rally was planned.
Chaotic Scenes Unfold
There was a disturbance caused by supporters and laborers hurling chairs and stones at one another. Despite pleas from former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for the audience to uphold law and order, they remained still. Dimple Yadav, the spouse of Akhilesh Yadav, was also spotted at the platform.
The mob was then subjected to a lathi charge, sometimes known as a baton charge, by the police, which brought the situation under control. In the last three days, there have been two instances of this kind. A similar near-stampede incident occurred earlier on May 19 during Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi’s joint rally in Phulpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Breach of Security
On Monday, Sant Kabir Nagar SP employees managed to get past the security perimeter, enter Yadav’s car, and take selfies with him. In the process, seats, coolers, and microphones that were set up at the venue sustained damage.
Yadav got assistance from police officers to get to the stage. The leader of the SP was in Sant Kabir Nagar to promote Pappu Nishad, the INDIA bloc’s candidate. The incident came to light prior to the Lok Sabha elections’ sixth phase of voting. On May 25, there will be votes in 57 constituencies spread over 7 states and U.T.
Fourteen Uttar Pradesh constituencies—Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Phulpur, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Shrawasti, Domariyaganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Lalganj, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Machhlishahr, and Bhadohi—will hold elections out of 57 total seats.
Azamgarh Lok Sabha Seat
The race for the Lok Sabha seat in Azamgarh appears to be extremely competitive. In actuality, the Samajwadi Party considers this seat to be its stronghold. However, Dinesh Lal Yadav, also known as “Nirahua,” defeated SP’s Dharmendra Yadav in the 2022 Lok Sabha by-election. In 2024, Dinesh Lal Yadav, also known as “Nirahua,” will face Dharmendra Yadav in the Lok Sabha elections from Azamgarh on a BJP ticket. It will be interesting to observe in such a scenario who wins the June 4 election results.
