Uttar Pradesh News: On Saturday, some 40 kids from two government junior high schools in the villages of Sarai Gulharia and Balapar became ill after eating an afternoon meal that included insects and worms. The Community Health Centre at Chargawan received all the sick students, who are now reportedly safe. When the townspeople heard about the incident, they hurried to the schools and staged demonstrations calling for the arrest of those involved.
Akshay Patra’s Role in Midday Meal Controversy
According to basic education officer Ramendra Kumar Singh, Akshay Patra, an outsourcing firm, supplies the midday meal to 70 elementary and junior high schools in the Chargawan Block. He claimed that 40 children from both schools had been reported as being ill. The district midday meal coordinator, according to Singh, was on the scene, and an investigation had been started. Stringent action will be taken against the guilty parties as soon as the probe report is received. Santosh Mishra, the assistant teacher of the school in Sarai Gulharia, confirmed that Akshay Patra provided the school lunch.
Students Fall Ill After Consuming School Lunch
Students were given Rajma-potato vegetable, curd, and rice on Saturday, but soon afterward, they started experiencing nausea and lightheadedness. He later alerted the village chief and officials from the basic education department. Sumit Sahni, the village chief of Gulharia, requested an ambulance from the health department so that the unwell may be sent to CHC Chargawan. Sunita Agarhari, a teacher in Village Balapar, verified that she notified the block education officer and village head after receiving reports of nausea and vomiting from a half-dozen kids. According to block education official Vijay Kumar Gupta, worms were discovered in the eating utensils when they were examined by the school staff and instructors. The manager and other Akshay Patra employees arrived on the scene in the meanwhile and promptly attempted to wash the cutlery, but they were stopped by the parents.
