Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dham on Friday inaugurated the Padma Vibhuhan Bipin Rawat, the country’s first Chief of Defence Staff General, at Kanak Chowk, Dehradun on Friday. He further announced that in memory of the late general, a project in the state will be named after him. This grand statue and the memorial site will speak volumes of his valour and bravery and inspire the youth, the chief minister said. Made at a cost of Rs 50 lakhs, the statue of General Bipin Rawat has been constructed by MDDA.
CM Dhami pays tributes to CDS General Bipin Rawat
The Uttarakhand chief minister said that the irreparable loss caused to the country by the sudden demise of CDS General Bipin Rawat could never be recovered. He added that the soldiers of Uttarakhand have been at the forefront of bringing glory to the nation. Military service is an excellent opportunity to dedicate life to the country and society, he added.

General Bipin Rawat’s guided soldiers during the Surgical Strike, says CM Dhami
CM Dhami said that the selfless service of the late General was replete with extraordinary strategic skills. He was instrumental in planning and guiding soldiers during India’s Surgical Strike on Pakistan. His competency was reflected in his becoming the first chief defence staff general of the country, said CM Dhami. He added that under his leadership, Indian Army established new paradigms of bravery. The late General also had a great attachment to Uttarakhand, he added.
