Uttarakhand News: After a successful test of sending medicine via drone in a mountainous area, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh was sent to Kotdwar carrying blood and blood components, but even after roughly one and a half hours, the drone was unable to land at Kotdwar Base Hospital.

Drone Forced to Land Due to Weather Conditions

According to reports, the drone had to land due to fog on the route to Kotdwar. The area has been visited by a technical team from the base hospital. The team at Kalalghati in Kotdwar successfully removed the drone from the tree. This caused damage to the drone. On Monday at 12:45 p.m., AIIMS Executive Director Professor Meenu Singh sent a drone from the AIIMS campus to Kotdwar. A two kilogramme blood component was sent in the drone.

AIIMS Rishikesh’s Drone Delivery Success

The initial trial by AIIMS Rishikesh to quickly distribute medications using drones in Boradi, Tehri, was successful. In the following stage, the Yamkeshwar region received medication by drone. Instead of sending medications, AIIMS Rishikesh is sending blood and blood components to Kotdwar. According to Harish Mohan Thapliyal, the AIIMS Institute’s public relations officer, blood and blood components were delivered by drone on Monday to Base Hospital Kotdwar. It has a two kilogramme blood component.
