Uttarakhand News: Following a landslip in Uttarakhand, debris obstructed the route at Tayya Pul Govindghat on the Badrinath National Highway. “Today is the 7th day of the search and rescue operation in Shimla. We have recovered 17 bodies and we are searching for other three victims. Teams of SDRF, NDRF and Indian Army are present at the spot. We are putting in our best efforts & hoping to retrieve the other victims,” said Roop Sharan, NDRF Inspector.
Landslip in Viceregal Lodge Gardens Raises Safety Worries for 149-Year-Old Edifice
A landslip in the Viceregal Lodge’s exterior gardens, according to a PTI report, has prompted worries over the safety of the 149-year-old historic edifice housing the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) in Shimla. Some areas of the building have developed cracks, however preventative measures have been adopted. According to Shimla Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi, there is no threat to the historic structure.
Death Toll Reaches 17 in Shimla Temple Collapse
On Sunday, the dead toll from the Shimla landslide-caused temple collapse tragedy that occurred on Monday reached 17. On Sunday, the seventh day of the search and rescue effort, search workers discovered a further body. In order to assess the situation, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, and former Himachal CM Jairam Thakur travelled to rain-soaked Shimla today. According to a press release, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the transfer of Rs 200 crore as an advance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to the Government of Himachal Pradesh to assist them in implementing relief efforts for those impacted by the current monsoon season.
