The Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda of Jyotirmath had been at the center of controversy after he had come up with allegations of gold theft from Kedarnath temple. He expressed his anger over the fact that an investigation had not been initiated into the theft at this premier site of Uttarakhand.
Chairman’s Response to Shankaracharya Swami’s Allegations
The chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has since come up with a statement in response to such allegations, and it is getting considerable attention. Ajay said respectfully, “I respect Swami Avimukteshwarananda, but he has the habit of provoking controversy, sensation, and always trying to be in news.” This pointed statement has therefore quickly become a focal point in public discussion.
Sarcasm and Challenge from the Chairman Temptation
Now, Ajendra Ajay, who was in-charge of the temples in far-flung mountainous areas of Uttarakhand, came up with solid views. Countering Shankaracharya Swami, he said, “Swami Avimukteshwarananda keeps holding press conferences throughout the day and it is his habit to provoke controversy, create sensation, and remain in the news.”
Ajay said, “It is very unfortunate that gold has disappeared from Kedarnath Dham.” He then challenged Swami Avimukteshwarananda to provide concrete proof and pursue the matter through proper channels. “He should go to the authority and present those evidences and demand an investigation. He should come to Supreme Court, High Court, file a PIL and demand in investigation otherwise he has no right to create unnecessary controversy and harm the dignity of Kedarnath,” Ajay asserted.
