Uttarakhand News: Anurag Singh Thakur said on Saturday that the Railway Ministry has approved the extension of the rail line from Una, Himachal Pradesh to Haridwar, a move expected to improve connectivity and pilgrimage tourism. As the representative of Himachal Pradesh and the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency, Thakur stated that his main objective is to further the development of the area, especially with regard to improving connectivity.
Lobbying for Direct Train Services
Thakur added that he lobbied Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for direct train services from Himachal Pradesh to Haridwar, highlighting the holy hub’s significance and the number of pilgrims it draws from Himachal Pradesh. Recognising the ease of travel for passengers, he declared the acceptance of the Una Himachal-Saharanpur MEMU train route extension to Haridwar. Thakur also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his assistance with this project.
Enhanced Passenger Convenience
Passengers will have more convenience as the Una Himachal-Saharanpur MEMU train, which formerly went from Una to Saharanpur, will now stop in Haridwar. A substantial increase over prior years has been allowed, totaling 1838 crore rupees for various railway projects.
Railway and Infrastructure Focus
Thakur also emphasised the railway and infrastructure initiatives that had been carried out in the Una district, including as the opening of the Daulatpur Chowk railway station and the approval of a double-lane bridge over the Loharli Khad. As the only district in Himachal Pradesh having a broad-gauge railway line, Una district is very significant. The first train to arrive in the area was in 1990.
Future Connectivity
In the future, Minister Thakur emphasised the significance of planned and existing initiatives like the Una-Hamirpur railway line, which will increase connectivity and promote regional economic growth. With the backing of the Central and Himachal Pradesh governments, the Una-Hamirpur railway line is about to become a reality thanks to substantial finance.
Revitalizing Rail Services
In addition, Thakur disclosed plans for infrastructure upgrades that would bring back rail services on the Kangra-Nurpur rail track as well as between Pathankot and Jogindernagar. Himachal Pradesh is expected to have increased economic growth and connectivity as a result of these initiatives, solidifying its status as a popular travel and pilgrimage destination.
