Uttarakhand News: Sumeru Mountain Strikes Again; Frequent Avalanches Rock Kedarnath Dham

Uttarakhand News: The avalanche catastrophe in Kedarnath Dham has surfaced once more. At 7:30 am, an avalanche arrived from the Sumeru mountain. People here began producing videos during this period. There is, however, no information on any damages resulting from the incident. The upper Himalayan region is frequently the scene of avalanche events. This year’s Kedarnath Dham had an avalanche in May. While there were three avalanche accidents in September and October of the previous year as well. The Saraswati River’s water level has risen at the same period.

Recent Avalanche Incidents in Kedarnath

Let me inform you that on June 9, 2023, an avalanche occurred in Kedarnath’s Chorabari glacier zone. Snow kept rising as a result for a long time. Many of the pilgrims at Kedarnath Dham who were there at the time recorded this incidence on their cell devices. This passage was a major source of debris and water after the disaster in June 2013. In the past 10 months, there have been five avalanche incidents. In September and October of last year, an avalanche struck the same region.

Avalanche Strikes Upper Cherabari Tal Area Near Kedarnath

A portion of the glacier in the upper area of Cherabari Tal, four kilometres behind Kedarnath, experienced an avalanche. For five to seven minutes after that, snow fell in the region. It was assumed that a substantial volume of fresh snow had fallen from a significant height given the snow cover’s quick descent.
