Dehradun News: On Monday, a police officer confirmed the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against a professor at a private university in Dehradun. The FIR was filed following a complaint by a female student, invoking sections 354 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code at Rajpur police station. In addition to the accused professor, four other professors, including two women faculty members, were named in the FIR for insulting and misbehaving with the student.
About the incident:
The complainant, a final year undergraduate student, reported that the incident occurred on October 26 while she was returning to her accommodation from a classroom. She alleged that the professor molested her, made threats of college expulsion using their influence, and used obscene language. The complainant also accused the accused of commenting on her lipstick. When she attempted to report the matter to the college administration, the accused obstructed her, claiming influence over the administration.
FIR against these authority:
Despite attempts to reach the university authorities for comment, no response has been received so far. The individuals named in the FIR, including the dean of the law department, Ashish Verma, are associated with the law department of the university. Verma cited his unavailability due to an ongoing meeting and indicated his intention to provide a statement after the meeting concludes. The investigation into the matter is currently in progress.
