Dehradun News: The District Magistrate, Sonika, has informed that during the Legislative Assembly session commencing on February 5, 2024, various organizations and communities are likely to conduct demonstrations and other activities that could adversely impact public peace within a 300-meter radius around the Legislative Assembly premises. To maintain law and order, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code will be enforced.
Restrictions on Carrying Weapons and Disruptive Items
Individuals within the designated area are prohibited from carrying weapons such as firearms, lathis, hooks, sticks, swords with a blade exceeding 2.5 inches, bombs, or any other explosive devices. Additionally, the gathering of stones, bricks, etc., is strictly forbidden. The use of any form of violence or aggression is strictly prohibited.
Prohibition on Loudspeakers and Processions
The use of loudspeakers, writing slogans on government buildings, making provocative speeches that incite communal sentiments, or distributing inflammatory literature is strictly forbidden within the specified area. No individual or group is allowed to gather at public places, intersections, or any other location in groups of five or more without prior permission. Processions or public gatherings of buses, tractors, trolleys, or four-wheeled vehicles resembling a procession are not permitted.
The ban on carrying weapons or sticks does not apply to government officials on duty or disabled individuals who require the support of a stick. The prohibition on assembling in groups or organizing processions does not apply to duly authorized events with prior approval.
Any form of provocative sloganeering, the use of loudspeakers, or the dissemination of misleading literature is strictly prohibited. The imposition of Section 144 aims to maintain peace and public order during the legislative session.
