Dehradun News: Woman forces dog to drink alcohol in viral video, FIR filed

Dehradun News: Police have taken legal action by filing an FIR against an unidentified woman who allegedly made her pet dog consume alcohol, as seen in a video that went viral. The incident unfolded in the Dehradun‘s Nehru Colony police station’s vicinity.

Dehradun Police takes action

In the viral video, the woman can be seen forcibly opening the dog’s mouth and pouring alcohol from a bottle into it, which has sparked widespread outrage. In response, SSP Daleep Singh Kunwar has appealed to the public to refrain from creating such videos for social media and has cautioned that stringent actions will be taken against individuals who engage in such activities.

The police initiated action on their own accord after animal rights organizations posted the video on social media and brought it to their attention. Nehru Colony SHO Yogesh Dutt said “There were some posts on Instagram in which the video was shared and the police were tagged. We took suo moto cognizance of the video and registered an FIR under section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. We are identifying the woman and will take the required action.”

Alcohol is strictly forbidden for dogs as it can severely impact their health and, in severe cases, result in fatality. Following the viral video of a woman giving beer to her dog on social media, SSP Dehradun instructed the police to initiate a complaint against the woman.
