This UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its incredible biodiversity, opened its doors to participants eager to understand the intricacies of managing a natural refuge in a water-scarce environment.

The day was led by Sh. Manas Singh, an experienced Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, who shared profound insights into the management strategies that have preserved the park’s unique ecosystem for generations. Participants gained a firsthand understanding of the daily challenges faced by the dedicated team responsible for conserving this treasured landscape.
Keoladeo National Park, also known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, is renowned for its diverse avian population, wetlands, and thriving flora and fauna. However, managing a UNESCO World Heritage Site in a region where water scarcity is a pressing reality poses a series of challenges. Sh. Manas Singh and his team provided valuable insights into how they have successfully tackled these hurdles.

Water management has been a cornerstone of Keoladeo National Park’s success. The park authorities have undertaken measures to harness and conserve water, including rainwater harvesting, water recycling, and effective irrigation techniques to sustain the wetlands that attract migratory birds from across the world.
