The former CM bemoaned the state’s commission culture
Claiming that no work could be completed without the payment of a certain fee. It was stated that Rawat said, “Though I have been a chief minister and perhaps shouldn’t say this, I have no hesitation in admitting that when we were separated from Uttar Pradesh, up to 20 per cent commission used to be paid there to get public works done,”
The BJP MP was quoted as saying, “After separation, it should have come to nil here, but the practice continued, and we began with 20 per cent.”
The former CM was quoted as saying by the sources, “It is a mentality. It will go away only when we begin to look upon our state as our own family.”

In 2000, Uttar Pradesh was divided into Uttarakhand.
In March of last year, Tirath Singh Rawat, the then chief minister, became entangled in a Twitter uproar and controversy over his opinions on women wearing ripped jeans. Young ladies, according to Rawat, follow bizarre dress trends, and he was surprised to see a mother travelling with her children wearing ripped jeans and boots.
Following his remarks, the BJP leader was criticised on Twitter by hundreds of women, influencers, actresses, and politicians, and the hashtag #rippedjeans ruled Twitter trends.
