Joshimath stares at power crisis now as electricity poles bends

The tragedy in Joshimath forced thousands of families to be displaced. The number of houses with cracks is increasing every day. The number of unsafe buildings has increased to 863. Amidst all the problems, the power supply crisis at Joshimath may deepen.

Bending electric poles

Around 70 electric poles and some transformers have started bending in Joshimath. In view of this problem, the officers of Uttarakhand Power Corporation present in Joshimath have also become active. Work is being done to deal with the possible power supply problem in Joshimath city. uPCL Managing Director Anil Kumar said that a sub-station of 33/11kv capacity is located at a distance of about 50 meters from the place of water leakage.

Weather hit Joshimath

Joshimath has been hit by the weather after the landslide. Rain and snowfall have increased the difficulties. It has been raining and snowing in the Joshimath region since Thursday night, which continued intermittently throughout the day on Friday. Due to this, the work of dismantling of 20 buildings including two hotels could not be done. Earlier, due to dismantling, the movement of vehicles was stopped on this part of the highway.

Due to the rains, water is seeping through the cracks in the houses and the surrounding areas. Due to which there is a fear of landslide.
