Mukhyamantri Sashakt Behena Utsav Yojana Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a program today under the Chief Minister’s Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana and the Chief Minister’s Women’s Self-Help Group Empowerment Scheme. At the event, CM Dhami emphasized the positive impact of these initiatives on the state’s women, calling the schemes a boon for the empowerment of “matri shakti” (mother power) in the region.
“The Chief Minister’s Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana is proving to be a blessing in empowering the mothers of our state,” said CM Dhami. “Currently, more than 37,000 women in the state are benefiting from this scheme.”
Since the inception of the scheme on August 24, 2023, during the Raksha Bandhan festival, women self-help groups (SHGs) in Uttarakhand have conducted business worth approximately ₹318.98 lakhs over the past year. The initiative, led by the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department, aims to provide a broader market for products crafted by these women’s groups, showcasing them through exhibitions at the block level and establishing marketing strategies to enhance their reach.
CM Dhami stated that the government is dedicated to advancing women’s empowerment, focusing on providing comprehensive support for the products made by self-help groups, from packaging to branding.
“Our government is continuously moving forward in the direction of women’s empowerment. We are organizing the entire setup from packaging to branding of the products prepared by the self-help groups,” he added.
State Project Manager (Marketing), Rohit Singh, shared insights into the scheme’s success and the plans for the future. “From August 2023 to June 2024, the scheme has witnessed considerable business activity,” Singh stated. “This year, the department has decided to set up stalls at the block level between the 25th and 30th of each month. Additionally, stalls will be set up at traditional fairs held across the state to market the materials produced by the groups.”
The initiative began this year at the Secretariat in Dehradun, where stalls were set up to exhibit and sell products made by women’s groups. Plans are underway to extend these stalls to other blocks throughout the state, allowing for greater visibility and market access for the products.
The Chief Minister’s Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana and the Women’s Self-Help Group Empowerment Scheme are part of the government’s broader effort to uplift women by providing them with the necessary resources and platforms to achieve economic independence and social empowerment. With these ongoing efforts, the Uttarakhand government aims to foster an environment where women can thrive and contribute significantly to the state’s economy.
