It will not be possible for criminals and anti-social elements to buy land in Uttarakhand. To protect the social and cultural fabric of the state, the government is going to further tighten the process of land purchase. Whoever will buy land in the state, the government will get his background checked.
The state government will make provision for this in the land related law. The government will bring an ordinance for this. The Chief Minister said that now land cannot be bought freely in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami raised this issue in the state cabinet meeting on Wednesday. He raised the issue of encroachment on government land in the state in front of all the ministers. He said that the State Government has launched a campaign to remove illegal encroachments from the forest and revenue lands of the State.
Apart from removing the encroachment on government land, it has also been asked to chalk out a strategy so that the government remains in possession of it. He stressed on strengthening the monitoring mechanism for conservation of government land. He said that the latest available resources should be used for surveillance.
Background check of land buyer
Along with this, he expressed the need to make the land purchase process more stringent in order to maintain the cultural and social uniqueness of the state. According to sources, the Chief Minister said that everyone cannot be allowed to buy land in the state. It was decided that first the background check of the land buyer would be done and then permission would be given. It was agreed to bring an ordinance to protect government land from encroachment and for verification and investigation before land purchase. A government minister confirmed this.
