Uttarakhand News: In a shocking incident, five individuals, including three bus drivers, a conductor, and a cashier, have been arrested in Dehradun for allegedly raping a minor girl on a bus traveling from Delhi to Dehradun. The arrests were made after a thorough investigation initiated by a tip-off received by the child helpline, 1098.
Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh detailed the sequence of events, stating that on August 13, the child helpline received information about a young girl sitting at a shop with a man who appeared suspicious. Acting promptly, the 1098 team arrived at the scene, questioned the man, and took the girl to Bal Niketan for counseling.

After two to three days of counseling, the girl disclosed that she had been raped by five men. A case was immediately registered against the five unidentified individuals under Section 70 of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the incident took place on a bus en route from Delhi to Dehradun. The suspicious man found with the girl at the shop was identified as the bus driver. Under interrogation, he confessed to the crime, implicating the bus conductor and three other bus drivers in the assault. All five suspects were subsequently arrested.

SSP Ajay Singh emphasized the seriousness of the case and assured that the investigation will be conducted with the utmost rigor to ensure justice for the victim. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and stricter safety measures for passengers, especially minors.
