According to Prashant Arya, Director of the Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development, the scheme will be funded by the Central Government through the Nirbhaya Fund. The Transport Department will offer free training and driving licenses to women and girls participating in the scheme.
First Phase to Benefit 200 Women
In the first phase, the goal is to benefit 200 women from the four districts. Three meetings have already been held regarding the plan, and on July 2, 2024, a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also discussed the initiative. After the first phase, the scheme will be expanded to other districts in the state.
This innovative scheme is part of the Chief Minister’s Vision 2025, with a proposal submitted by the Department of Women Empowerment. The scheme aims to not only empower women and girls economically but also enhance their sense of safety.
“By utilizing the Nirbhaya Fund, this initiative will foster a sense of security and enable women and girls to become self-reliant,” said Aarti Balodi, the state’s nodal officer for centrally funded schemes.
